With this folder we would like to introduce you to the SUPERNOVA - orchestra. SUPERNOVA was founded in autumn 2000 by saxophonist Jan Klare and drummer Peter Eisold and funded by the "jazz podium" Ruhr and their swingbeats - festival. Klare and Eisold were enabled to put a 15 piece orchestra together and write music for it without any artistic restrictions. The band recruits itself from some of the most innovative musicians of the "Ruhr -area" in the heart of germany. Initially only 4 concerts were planned, but enthusiastic audiences, media interest and especially the overwhelming spirit in the band convinced the bandleaders to continue. The orchestra was immediately booked for other festivals and events, radio productions were offered and so forth. Eisold and Klare decided to make SUPERNOVA a regular working band. The line-up is quite unique: next to excellent jazzvirtuosos you´ll find a turkish oud-player, a pop- singer, a classic flutist - two and a half drummers and a theatre performer, who also sings. In SUPERNOVA interpreters of contemporary classical music sit next to performance artists, traditional turkish music elements are combined with free Improvisation and pop-singing. Electronic sounds (realised by some minisamplers ), jazzsoli and the heat of sometimes 3 drummers create a sound, that has little in common with a traditional big band. In spite of it´s massive sound the internal communication is as quick as in a small ensemble - and: SUPERNOVA can be really loud! In winter 2001/02 the debut SUPERNOVA CD will be released. Reviews: Just another musical project ? No -a remarkable orchestra on a voyage through post modern galaxies! " Supernova: the name promises excitement. The intro is a kind of science-fiction-collage, the thunderstorm of a violent rock riff hits the audience - three (!!) drummers orbit the musical space ship into outer space. der digitale Landbote - Leon Oldenberg "Jan Klare and Peter Eisold have achieved the seemingly unpossible - bringing together all the important protagonists of jazz- and improv music in the "Ruhr - area". Michael Batt - "swingbeats - Jazz Podium Ruhr" "Unbelievable but true, and price worthy in the near future, don´t you think?!" (jazzthetik) Jazzy stilmix "Improvisations and compositions, spontanuos and reflecting. ... brimming with ideas the band mixed their repertoire with "special sound effects" , which obviously impressed the audience. .... an exciting project, which was the climax of the 2 year long "swingbeats-festival"." cst (WAZ 6.11.00) |
